Why I coach: a minute with Paul McCormack Play · 1 min
Where you might be right now

Two starting points. One goal.

You've just stepped up

New title, bigger stakes, and people now looking to you for answers. You want to make it count, not just get through the first year.

You're ready for more

You're doing well, but you know there's another gear. You want to find it and see where it takes you: a bigger role, the next promotion, or a direction you haven't considered yet.

Either way, the goal is the same: becoming the version of yourself you know is in there, at work and at home.

The two voices

The thoughts that come with wanting more.

Most capable people carry two voices: the one that doubts, and the one that knows there's more.

I know what I'm doing, so why do I still feel like I'm not good enough?Imposter syndrome
I want to be someone my family is proud of, at work and at home.Pride
I finish most weeks knowing I could have done better. The inner critic
If I invest in myself, I know I'm capable of more.Potential
I'm already stretched. Where would the time even come from?Time and energy
I don't want to look back and wonder what I could have been.No regrets

Both voices are normal. Coaching helps you quieten one and act on the other.

The Think. Feel. Perform.™ Method

Your performance doesn't start with your to-do list.

How you think affects how you feel, and how you feel affects how you perform. When they're aligned, you get:

Clarity
On where you're going, and the few priorities that matter most.
Confidence
That you can get there, backed by how you think and how you live.
Consistency
To follow through when motivation fades and life gets busy.

You don't need to fix everything. We start where it matters most for you, usually confidence or follow-through, and build from there.

THINK Mindset and self-talk FEEL Energy and composure PERFORM Habits, at work and outside it YOUR NEXT LEVEL
Before you start

Questions people ask first.

I'm flat out. Where would I find the time?
It's one session a month, plus support in between. Most people find it gives them time back, because they stop spending energy on the wrong things and start following through on the right ones.
What does a coach actually do?
Asks the right questions at the right time, so you work out what's getting in the way and what to do about it. I won't tell you what to think. As Shivani put it: "You never once said, well actually, why don't you think about it like that."
Isn't asking for help a sign I'm not ready?
The opposite. Execs get coaching once they've made it. McKinsey's research on leaders stepping into bigger roles found tailored coaching doubles the chance of a successful transition, yet only around a third of organisations provide it. The people who invest earlier tend to get there sooner.
My firm already offers coaching. Why would I need this?
Firm coaching can be useful, but it's usually tied to the job: your role, your targets, the firm's agenda. Working with someone one step removed means you can be completely candid, and we can work on everything that affects how you perform, not just what happens at your desk. Ross had worked with work-focused coaches before. His view: "just focusing solely on one thing and not looking at the bigger picture just doesn't make sense."
Is it just about work?
No. How you sleep, train, switch off and show up at home shapes how you perform at work. We work on all of it, because success should improve your life, not cost you one.
Who pays, and is it confidential?
Many clients fund coaching through their professional development budget, and I can invoice your employer directly. Either way, what we talk about stays between us.

How it works

Six months to make it how you operate.

Insight is the start. Coaching helps you act on it, week after week. It runs over six months, with a session each month and support in between.

Months 1 to 2

Get clear

Where you are, where you want to be, and the two or three things that will make the biggest difference.

Months 3 to 4

Build confidence and consistency

Follow-through when the week gets busy, and backing yourself in the room.

Months 5 to 6

Make it normal

Lock in the habits, so performing at your next level becomes how you operate, at work and at home.

Start here

A 30-minute intro call. No pressure.
